this is gonna make me sound dumb as hell but I first bought Invisible Man when I was around 10. I’ve always read books on any number of different subjects, even at a young age, and I remember getting the unique privilege of checking out any book I wanted at school (this was in the deep south, so they were very concerned with protecting our fragile young minds.) I saw it while browsing through a book store and figured it was going to be something like the movie hollow man, but not as shitty, so you can imagine how confused I was once I started reading. I set it aside, only to pick it up years later thankful that I’d had the sense to keep it around.
