–United Nations Special Envoy for Somalia, Augustine Mahiga, on Friday issued a statement requesting parliamentarians to select an ‘honest and effective’ candidate when they vote by secret ballot for Somalia’s new president.
Al Jazeera reports the vote will be “the first vote of its kind in decades amid fears that the election will be rigged and do little to alter the political landscape.”
